The Xtreme Energy Makeover is a project designed to demonstrate the energy efficiency and conservation opportunities available in single-family homes built before the implementation of California's Title 24 residential energy standards. These homes

provide opportunities for reducing energy use achieving energy savings through the replacement and retrofit of existing inefficient appliances and energy utilizing systems. According to U.S. Census information, over 230,000 single-family housing units existed in San Diego County before 1980.


About the Home


At the beginning of 2007, a home was selected for participation in this innovative project from a number of promising applicants. The home renovation is now complete and the home will be open to the public in 2008 during a series of four open house events. Visit this website throughout the year for open house dates and times.
